Gambling games can be addictively fun when you're playing with real money. They're terribly, boringly repetitive though once you have learned them because they're solved games. Blackjack and video poker have clearly defined rules for optimal play which you strictly adhere to or you lose money if you deviate from them. Granted that one may want to do some gambling on the cheap, I submit this review for NES Caesar's Palace.

The controls for this game are annoying. It's hard to briefly explain but a lot of the point-and-click it requires to keep the games flowing is needless and counterintuitive. And the blackjack options are even more restrictive than actual Caesar's Palace house rules, doubling down available only for Ace vs. any card and Ten vs. limited cards (maybe 9 through 6).

A beginner may use this game to practice basic strategy, but it lacks any real entertainment value. There's no music during play, and no characters to interact with. There's a brief conversation with Vanna White at the cashier's cage, but she doesn't deal any games. The roulette wheel and slots are okay for a few minutes, but the main attractions are the 8-bit Caesar's Palace fountains and the leaving Las Vegas sign. There are better options for gambling video games including SNES Caesar's Palace and NES Casino Kid which offers much better blackjack house rules and shuffled decks.
