ENTERACTIVE FPS Creator ( Windows ) Review

ENTERACTIVE FPS Creator

The level making system is impressive, physics are good, but the graphics and AI leave some to be desired, the graphics and AI look and act like, Half-Life 1 to Unreal tournament 1; And lacks outside terrain. But it is very fast and easy, you can get used to it in an hour and form there you can have a good 1-2 level game in 30 min. But I think you should find out for yourself, go to "fpscreator.com" and check out the demo.

Atari Space Jockey Review

Atari Space Jockey

Space Jockey, or as James Cameron attributes to as "Big Dental Patient."This clone of Konami's Pooyan has mere shooting action. And in fancy of the almighty Atari VCS Library, that statement was small. The packaged instruction manual could not make sense of the program's plot, so my imaginary amigo came up with one of his own.Take reign of your terrestrial UFO, simply known as Nostromo. Its gobs recieved an unknown signal from planetoid LV-426, and now they must ostracize a humanic population through utilization of alien eggs (aka "white dots").Each successful grapeshot enumerates a tally of points to Space Jockey's high-score interface.Alongside of a press of the "Game Select" switch, your aerial navigator can alter gravitational pull and enemy formation. However, to ramp up the actual difficulty, make with the "Difficulty A-B" tabs. The 1st tab enhances enemy firepower, and the 2nd tab configures enemy ceasefire.TOO MUCH control here? Why would a gamer want guerrilla forces to ease up in the first place?Perhaps U.S. Games intended to encompass a grand audience with spacious innovation. My counsel: "Game Select" #15, both tabs on "Expert."That level proffers a nice challenge, although its cause is limited to earning points.Space Jockey is substandard in reach of its own genre, and fails to present itself as a new girl in town.

Metal Storm Review

Most people have never heard of this game. To those that have, it's an underrated gem. It's puzzling why so many passed this game up. The controls are tight, the gravity flip gimmick is cool and the action is frantic. However, the levels feel a bit short and I don't think they used the gravity flip to it's full potential. There is a second quest (remember when games did that?) so that adds some length and it is still a fun game.

Xevious The Avenger Review

This game is very fun when u play it on multiplayer but like most games back then u have to take turns. The objective is to shoot all enemy crafts and bomb any moving things on the ground. It is allot eaiser to play this game with the nes advantage because of the joystick. The only bad thing about this game is the shooting sound gets very annoying and it is very hard to beat. I only got to the thrid level. Other than that it is a great multiplayer game.

Thunder Force V: Perfect System Review

Thunder Force V: Perfect System

Thunder for, in my opinion, is one of the best shoot'em up's ever created. It should not be compared to other games (like Einhander, even though people think that this is better, which I disagree) of it's type. All those who have ever played the other games of the series know that even though the game can be EXTREMELY HARD, it is NEVER cheap. It demmands ultimate concentration, just as Working Designs implies. The graphics may not be the best ever seen, but they are pretty ... good anyway. I recommend this game, but be warned, you must be up to the challenge.

Bionic Commando Review

Bionic Commando
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Forget the 2009 remake of Bionic Commando, this is the real deal. Bionic Commando for the NES is an excellent game with some inventive 8-bit gameplay mechanics. The story is simple - it follows Radd Spencer as he goes to rescue Super Joe, another commando who was captured by bad guys. Radd is equipped with numerous weapons and a bionic arm to help him rescue Joe and defeat the bad guys. A short and sweet NES backstory in the vein of good ol' Contra.

The game is unique in the fact that you cannot jump. Huh? You have to be able to jump to get around the levels right? Not necessarily. In Bionic Commando, your bionic arm acts like a grappling hook and you use it to climb platforms, swing across spike and fire pits, and to pull down out of reach enemies. It's an interesting game dynamic, and at a time when every other game character could jump, it was almost revolutionary. The available weapons are standard; you've got a rifle, a wide gun, a 3-way gun, a rocket launcher, and a bazooka. I think the rocket launcher is the best choice for almost every level. There are also a bunch of items you can find, but none of them are that effective except for the bullet proof vest.

The map screen is also interesting. Instead of progressing linearly to the next level, you're in a helicopter and can choose what area you want to go to next, occasionally running into enemy forces and battling them in between levels. It is an original concept that was refreshing at a time when most games went straight from point A to point B. The game is bright and colorful as well, with each level having a different color scheme and enemies. The enemies vary from soldiers with guns and enemy bionic commandos to sentient slime and giant supercomputers. The human enemies you kill drop bullets, which when enough are collected, your life bar extends one point. You start with three energy points and can work your way to a total of eight.

The controls are tight and work surprisingly well. Using the arm takes some getting used to, but the game takes that into consideration by making each level depend more on the bionic arm as you progress. By the time you get to Levels 11 and 12, you'll be a master at swinging, grappling, and landing.

All in all, a really good addition to the NES library that has some unique 8-bit innovations and is a lot of fun to play. A must own for anyone with a Nintendo.

Silver Surfer Review

Silver Surfer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This video game is pretty cool, but I find it a bit difficult. In the comic book, the Silver Surfer is nearly invincible. In this game, you get hit once, you're off your board and you die. What happened to the power cosmic?Go figure.

Basically, this game is a shooter like those flying around games where you just try to shoot everything without getting hit. Half the time its a side scroller, the other half it's a top view. That's clever.
The power cosmic comes in a small white ball that blows stuff up. Usually you have to hit things more than once. You pick up what look like F boxes or cards. The more F you have the more powerful you become. You can pick up orbs and now you shoot in more than one direction. You can controll the orbs so you can shoot to the side and back while you just shoot forward. The villians in the game are pretty strange. Firelord is actually a good guy in the comics and has basically the same powers as the Surfer. The Captain Reptile in the game doesn't really look like a pirate. All of his stages make him look like the lizard king of Hawaii. Then there is the Possesor. His level is kind of cool. Lots of classical sculptures. It looks like some corney Stephen Hawking music video. I know he doesn't have a music video, but if he did, this is what it would look like. Watch out for the flying vacuum cleaners in stage two! The rest of the game is too damn hard. You're supposed to beat all the bad guys, collect parts to some machine Galactus has so he can send you to some other dimension to fight who knows what. That sounds a lot like the comic book actually. However, it's really freakin' hard. Because this game is for the NES, I don't think it could be any better. Oh, I think I should add that the music to this game rocks!

Super C Review

Super C
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Then you need to pick up Super C, because of all the Contra games, I still find this to be the hardest of the lot. However, Super C is a game where you can't wimp out.Much like the first Contra, it takes practice to learn. However, as far as advancing the series goes, Super C does it in the way a game ought to do it.It keeps the same basic gameplay, but it throws in new enemies, harder levels and different level designs.Simply put, mastering the first Contra doesn't give you an edge in Super C.

There are eight levels in the game, and it works exactly as the first Contra did in this respect. You will go through, running and gunning through tons of enemies. You'll find many weapons for you to use. They all come from the previous Contra game. You'll find a machine gun, flame thrower (there are two types this time), laser and the Spread Gun.Again, as any Contra veteran can tell you, the Spread Gun is perhaps the best weapon you could hope to get.Strong, and can hit just about anything.

What makes Super C much harder than the first Contra game is simply that there is more stuff that comes at you.More enemies, and more gun shots to avoid.Combine that with the fact that the Classic Konami code DOES NOT work with this game. One hit, you're dead, and you've only got two lives to start with. You earn more by scoring lots of points, but with bosses that are much more difficult in scope and enemies that take a lot more time to predict, Super C will have you dying of frustration (perhaps even literally).

Super C does two player co-op exactly as the first one did it.Again, there are few games that do two player co-op better thanthe Contra series.Super C is no exception.

The music, while not better than the first Contra, is still fantastic.Graphic wise it's also better than the first Contra. It uses the same sprites but the environments are far more detailed.Allowing for more populated levels.

Old school gaming almost doesn't get any better.

System: Flaw (DSi Only) Review

System: Flaw
Average Reviews:

i completely missed this game's release in October.you'd think the first DSi-only retail game in North America would have made a bigger splash.(i'd even been watching another DSi-only "augmented reality" title called Ghostwire, due out later this year.)

this is a whole new type of shooter, somewhere between an FPS and a light-gun game.other than "shoot" (L or R or both) there are no in-game controls -- you turn by turning with the DSi.the camera picks up the motion of your surroundings, and moves the enemy accordingly.the game uses all 360 degrees, including about 45 degrees up/down, so don't expect to play this sitting on the sofa.(a swivel chair, maybe ... hey, i think i'll try that!)

in short, the game "paints" a Space Invader-like enemy somewhere in the camera's view.you move the DSi around and the alien moves with the background.get it into the middle of the screen where the crosshairs are, and shoot.repeat for 99 more levels ...

let's be fair, i wasn't expecting much from the game itself.it's a shooter, somewhere between Doom and Duck Hunt.

rather, the innovation is in the "augmented reality" aspect and motion-detection software.instead of putting you into a virtual world, it puts virtual elements into the real world.or something close to it.=)

let's hope for more games like this!

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System Review

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System

I spent some time with this game at this years E3 and there is no question this is going to be one of those surprise hits no one sees coming. That's a good thing too, because in a year without Halo 2 Xbox is going to need something to kick it in the pants.
The graphics are some of the tightest the system has seen, each world is just beautifully rendered in 3D awaiting to be demolished by your weapons. I had a blast just picking away at enemies limbs, the way they pop and squirm as you shoot them is just awesome, you really need to see it in action. This game really pulled me in from the moment I picked up the controller.
No serious gamer can pass this up and it won't take much convincing of an average joe to get hooked.
